Moe, commonly stylized as moe., is an American jam band. The first instantiation of the group got together in 1989 at the University of Buffalo, but it took several years for the band’s line up to iron itself out. Rob Derhak, the bassist and vocalist, and guitarist and back up vocalist Chuck Garvey are the only two remaining original members. Al Schnier, who plays guitar, key, and the mandolin, joined in 1992. Vinny Amico, the current drummer, joined in 1996. Rounding out the lineup is Jim Loughlin, who plays a variety of instruments depending on the song. He officially joined the group in 1999.Read More ...

  1. moe. Live

Like other popular nineties improvisational rock bands such as Phish and Widespread Panic, moe. allows their knowledge of rock and roll history to influence them as they try and push the envelope on stage. The group does not follow many conventions. The bassist, Derhak, is the one who takes center stage as the lead singer. More importantly moe. does not limit themselves to any particular genre. moe. presents a psychedelic hipster vibe on stage. The members wear hoodies beneath sports jackets or button downs with jeans. Their stage effects include all sorts of brightly colored flashing lights.
