Like other popular nineties improvisational rock bands such as Phish and Widespread Panic, moe. allows their knowledge of rock and roll history to influence them as they try and push the envelope on stage. The group does not follow many conventions. The bassist, Derhak, is the one who takes center stage as the lead singer. More importantly moe. does not limit themselves to any particular genre. moe. presents a psychedelic hipster vibe on stage. The members wear hoodies beneath sports jackets or button downs with jeans. Their stage effects include all sorts of brightly colored flashing lights.
