Come From Away is the uplifting Broadway musical that captures the hearts of everyone who remembers where they were on 9/11. Many of the starring characters are based on real-life people from the incident and explore how various people deal with the uncertain new situation. Some of the Gander folks and the “plane people” bond over both having sons who are firefighters, romantic relationships, or the general shock of such a strange and terrible situation. At the end of the ordeal, the townsfolk’s kindness shined a light in the otherwise devastating events.
Featuring 21 musical numbers accompanied by an on-stage band, this performance explores unlikely friendships and challenging of worldviews through rock, folk, and Irish-inspired tunes. “Lead Us Out of the Night” is a heartrending, beautiful song mid-show taking place when the characters finally find out the details of what happened in New York leading to their situation.
